our mission:
To assist individuals in our communities to have safe and caring daily living…and some fun, too!
Sister services is truly a mission-based business providing services to and for the communities in which we live. We're not out to make a million bucks--we want to make a difference in the lives of those around us, to be helping hands and hearts, serving others. We operate as a cooperative of like-minded individuals.
THE LOGISTICS:
In general, we try to serve the area within a 35 mile radius of each of us, an area that spans I-91 from Thetford, VT to Saxons River, VT. An hourly rate is contingent on your location, service needed, and open to the discretion of the person who will be assisting you. We don’t ask you to cover our time and gas to get to you; instead it will be factored into an hourly rate. In general, we charge between $25-$35 an hour per person. Each member carries her/his own insurance for your peace of mind. In attempts to keep as much overhead costs down as possible, we will invoice you and ask that you pay for services on the day rendered, by either cash or check made out to Sister Services.
What makes us different from other service providers:
- We are like Task Rabbit, but operate as a collective of professionals.
- We are like home care agencies, but only require a minimum of 2 hours for a shift. You also do not have to work with a variety of staff, but one person. With a 99.99% show-up rate, we are more reliable, and provide consistency.
- We are like the individuals who might offer services on craigslist, but we are registered and fully insured, providing you with the confidence of professionalism.
- We are like a cooperative, but we're starting out small.
Did you know?
- Private pay, for profit caregiving agencies pay their employees--the individuals providing the direct care--between $9-$12/hr, even though they charge you $23+/hr
- Many agencies have a 4 hr minimum per shift
- 40% of American workers are now freelancers
- Nationwide, and especially in Vermont, cooperatives, B-corporations, and worker-owned collectives are on the rise. Supporting us also means supporting your local economy
